American History Documents

http://www.indiana.edu/~liblilly/history/history.html
American History Documents is a very small digital exhibition by the University of Indiana Lilly Library showing famous and important documents from US history.

1) Selection decisions:
There are only 14 items in the digital collection. All are items in the possession of the Lilly Library at IU. Therefore it appears that the collection consists of all the documents of national historical interest they possessed.

2) Metadata:
There is no Metadata for the collection as a whole. Individual Items are labeled what they are and dated. There is a library location listed for the item. They also have a short historical sketch to show their significance. Of Items that include handwritten text there is a link to the transcribed text.

3) Object Characteristics:
This is a low resolution collection, the thumbnail on each page lead to a copy that is always 800 pixels on its widest side. There is now overall naming scheme. The file names are the same as when the file was originally retrieved to be used in the project, implying that they were not all digitized at the same time. Also the collection includes multi page document s but usually only the first page is shown. At best 2 pages.

4) Intended audience:
Not scholars. Just people who want to see what they looked like. This is evident in the incomplete low-res copies presented. All in all quite useless.
