Oregon Multicultural Archives Digital Collection

Oregon Multicultural Archives Digital Collection

Selection

As stated on the home page, the digitized images represent a portion of the holdings in the Oregon Multicultural Archives. They have included a variety of different minority groups in the selection.

Metadata

Each image contains title, date, description/notes, (hyperlinked) subject tags, type, format, item number, original collection, restrictions, file name, and a link to a full resolution image that requires a password. The site is created with CONTENTdm. Images can be browsed or searched. If you choose to browse, you will see the list of images alphabetically by image title, which doesn’t make much sense (e.g. “At the Chicano Cultural Center” precedes “Barracks from Japanese American Internment Camp”).

Object Characteristics

I can’t tell what image format is used for either the thumbnails or the full-sized images. The About section offers no help as it contains the canned instructions from CONTENTdm for changing the About content. The images can be zoomed and panned although the process is clunky. All images contain alt text.

Intended Audience

Persons interested in their own cultural heritage and history at it relates to Oregon might appreciate this site. Historians or persons interested in particular Oregon events like the Pendleton Round Up might could find some good stuff.
